Weirdest Game Controllers

Nowadays we have very modern game controllers, especially Nintendo Wii’s, but let’s travel through the history a bit and find out how “revolutionary” controllers were produced then. There was always a big hunt for alternative controllers and because of that there were some really weird solutions. Most game controllers were coming from Japan and mostly because of their not so big success, they haven’t been sold in the rest of the world. Let’s see what people had on their mind and what they produced.

Hit The Drums
Konami Drummania Controller is the biggest, most realistic and most grandiose of all music controllers. Thanks to it’s stable leggs, sticks and pedal for leg, this set is almost the same as real drum. This controller is compatible with Guitar Freeks game, so it can be combined with guitar on PlayStation.

PS2 Pad With A Keyboard
More functionality on PS2 then this can’t be found! Sammy Keyboard Pad was made for online games and for Capcom’s racing games. Under the buttons and joystick there is a keyboard. Using the standard QWERTY keyboard you can precisely type text and numbers.

Very Bad Magnetic Field Simulator
The NES console had a lot of weird controllers, almost none of which worked properly. The U-Force was meant to detect your hand movements and turn them into button presses! This controller was meant just for the fools and their money.

Masochistic Controller
Most people play video games to relax, but if you are a weird person Mindwire is a real thing for you! You attach a set of electrode pads to your skin and then when you get hit by a bullet or crash into a wall it gives you an electric shock to punish you!

For Dredgers
It looks like Taito wants to put all vehicles in the games. So far we have controllers for driving a metro, bus and airplane, and this one is the weirdest for sure. Taito Power Shovel has two sticks and typical yellow color.

With One Hand
Somebody got an idea that there is no point of using both hands while playing games. Ascii Group V is used with just one hand, and for example you can dig your nose with the other one!

Overspeed: High Performance Street Racing

Overspeed: High Performance Street Racing

Quote:
The streets of L.A. The birthplace of illegal streetracing. Here, the drivers of the fastest and most showy cars are the legends of the night. The competition is cut-throat. Modify your rides, take up challenges and win. Climb the ladder of the underground hierarchy and become the new king of L.A.!

Overspeed will put you in the seat of one of 10 stock import cars challenging you to seek out random street races at nighttime, earning parts and cars. You will slowly mold your vehicle into a finely tuned racing machine, capable of taking anything on the streets, but it won’t be easy. There are many other racers out there with these same aspirations, willing to do whatever it takes to get the checkered flag. The player will still be able to disassemble, repair, and upgrade their vehicle part by part. From bumpers to sway bars…nearly every possible part that is found on an actual vehicle will not only be present in Overspeed, but removable, damageable, and upgradeable. A detailed city will resemble the feeling of Los Angeles, with diversified roadways, corners, and intersections that made the dynamic street races a possibility.

The ability to add additional material to the simulation has been central in the design of the simulation. Rail Simulator allows easy inclusion of add-on material covering new routes, rolling stock and additional missions. We are currently working with third party developers and expect to have additional add-ons for the game available shortly after its release.

Of great importance to the more enthusiastic railway fan is the ability to create their own additional routes, so included with Rail Simulator is an editor that allows the creation of new environments. These tools have been developed with simplicity in mind, so as to encourage the development and exchange of user-generated content, which can be shared and used by other railway enthusiasts.

Call of Duty 4

Quote:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision for the PlayStation 3, Windows, and the Xbox 360. It is scheduled for release for Mac OS X in the third quarter of 2008.[1] It is the fourth installment of the Call of Duty video game series, excluding expansion packs. The game breaks away from the World War II setting of previous games in the series and is instead set in modern times. The game is the first in the series to be rated Mature in North America. The title and game details were announced on April 25, 2007,[6] and the game was released worldwide between November 6, 2007 and November 9, 2007. It became available on Steam on November 6, 2007 for pre-purchase, and was available to play on November 12, 2007.[7]

The story is centered around a fictional near-future conflict involving the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia, who are fighting against Russian ultranationalists in civil war torn Russia, and rebels that have staged a coup d'état in a small Middle Eastern country. It is told from the perspectives of a United States Marine and a member of the British SAS, and is set in multiple locations, including the Middle East, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Prypiat, Ukraine. The multiplayer portion of the game features various game modes, and contains a leveling system that allows the player to unlock additional weapons, weapon attachments, and camouflage schemes as they advance.[8] The game was in development for two years. It uses a proprietary game engine, and includes features that include true world-dynamic lightning, HDR lighting effects, dynamics shadows, and depth of field.[9]

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare received considerable praise and has won numerous awards from gaming websites, including IGN's "Best Xbox 360 Game".[10][11] It was the top-selling game worldwide for 2007, reaching over seven million copies as of January 2008
